On October 5th, Bernards hosted their semi-annual homecoming dance. As the cafeteria was decorated with colorful flashing lights, and an eventful background is put up for photos, students gathered at 7 pm for the long-awaited homecoming dance.
Prior to the dance, Sophia Fazel ‘26 exclaimed, “I am very excited to have a good time with my friends and dance to the music.” After talking to many different students, the response was unanimous: everyone was excited about the upcoming homecoming dance.
Created by Addison Chisholm ‘25 and Mrs. Snyder along with the rest of the student council, this year’s homecoming is one of the first with a theme: A Homecoming Masquerade. Mrs. Snyder described that getting homecoming ready was much more work than she expected but “it’s exciting to work with the seniors and make their dreams come true”.
The cafeteria transformed into a mystical masquerade ball with balloons, elegant masks, and a ‘masquerade’ theme that set the mood for an unforgettable night. Students rushed into the cafeteria in their masquerade attire as it started, ecstatic to see how the night unfolded. Many pictures were taken at the glamorous photo backdrop, decorated with sparkly streamers and balloons that truly captured the theme of homecoming and the memories that come with it. As the night continued on, the energy in the cafeteria started to build, with the DJ playing everyone’s favorite hits. Students rushed to the dance floor after hearing their favorite songs being played, thrilled to dance along. As soon as everyone was tired from giving it their all on the dance floor, it was time to eat. Fresh boxes of pizza soon arrived. Exhausted, students grabbed a slice of pizza and made their way over to the beautifully decorated tables.
This eventful night brought joy and many new connections and memories throughout BHS. Students from all grades came together, creating new friendships and memories. For many seniors, this was a cherishable moment as it marked their last homecoming dance at Bernards High School.
Maya Kapoor ‘25 shared, “This was a perfect way to wrap up my high school years, and will be a memory I look back on from time to time.”
Looking at all of the success that this homecoming had, students are already looking forward to next year, with hopes of it being even bigger and better. Until next year, this year’s homecoming will remain a memory and will be cherished, serving as a reminder of the connection between our school’s community.
