Formerly known as the Kings Plaza, The Bernardsville Centre, located at 80 Morristown Road Route 202 in Bernardsville, will be introducing new stores in 2024-2025. Since 2021, Kings has been vacant with no new stores incoming, however, new stores have started to fill in the vacant spot. Moreover, in 2025, plans are being put in place for a new high-end butcher shop to open. Now with the turn of a new year comes new beginnings for Bernardsville Centre.
Opening in January 2025, Butcher and Farmer will serve high-quality meat and prepared food. Butcher and Farmer will be located on the corner next to Fresh Press Juice Co. Shoppers can expect fresh meat, on-the-go lunches, dinners, and easy types of pre-packaged meals.
Butcher and Farmer will be a high-end health-food shop with the best meat around. Some of the meat provided includes: “grass-fed beef, pastured pork, organic chicken, and pastured chicken” says Ivan Fedorov, store manager. Produce is sourced from local, independent farms within the East Coast and all food will be made from high-quality ingredients.
As Fedorov claims, this is a specialty store that caters to a small customer base because “there’s a small number of stores like this throughout the country.”
In the center of town, it is an easy location for people to pick up meat and prepared food at this gourmet market. Products are going to be made with “much fresher, much safer, and much better meat and poultry compared to supermarkets and their pre-packed goods” states Brenda Curnin, leasing agent of the Bernardsville Centre. Because of the lack of prepared food stores in the Centre, the butcher was chosen because “we didn’t really have food to buy other than prepared restaurants,” says Curnin.
Prepared meals will include varieties from lunches to dinners, solids to soups. “There will be prepared soups, prepared stews” along with varieties of meatballs and sausages, claims Fedorov. The main goal of the store is to provide customers with high-end food at a “healthy hub for people who are seeking healthy food” according to Fedorov.
People on the town’s Bernardsville Bubble Facebook page are curious about the store because of the lack of advertisements. However, Butcher and Farmer will start to advertise via social media and word of mouth. Many people expected another supermarket to fill the space; however, there was no perfect match so they had to subdivide the space. The former Kings Plaza was subdivided into a couple of smaller sections because “it was too small for some supermarkets, too small for others” according to Curnin.
Butcher and Farmer is not a generic store, but a healthy store to buy meats and freshly packaged food. It is a perfect store for people who want healthy, yet quick food to pick up in the center of town. Butcher and Farmer will serve the specific meats, unlike generic meats that Perotti’s sells.
Butcher and Farmer will be a great store for people who prioritize pastured, organic, or grass-fed meats.
With only three months to go, the Butcher and Farmer will open to many curious customers.
