The well awaited girls basketball season is coming up in Bernards High School. As the team gets ready for a new season filled with hard work, determination and teamwork,the students and coaches can’t contain their excitement. Here at Bernards High School all of our athletics programs honor skills, build strong bonds between students and coaches and overall provide a fun time for all. Mrs. Lavelle, a coach and guidance counselor here at Bernards High School “Our basketball program is full of hardworking, dedicated athletes which shows our performance and enthusiasm through the last couple of years”.
This year, the girls basketball team has high hopes for success. Caring the momentum from last season where they turned things around from the previous years, taking home an impressive fourteen wins. Coaches and players are excited to carry that enthusiasm to this upcoming season, with many returning players ready to lead the charge. Aletha Reynolds, a junior at BHS who has played varsity basketball since freshman year says “I am excited to have most of our players back and hopefully get into the division”. It is clear how much and how hard the athletes on the girls basketball team have worked over the pasrt few years and how hard they are going to continue to work. Bernards Basketball games are not only known for the hard work and determination to succeed, but for drawing the community together.
At games, the stands are filled with family, students, and faculty who come out to support the team. Whether it’s a huge win or a learning experience the crowd always stays loud, supporting the team no matter what. As the new season approaches the team highly encourages new members to join. Coaches and returning players encourage new students to give basketball a try, whether they are experienced or brand new to the sport. The program is known for being very inclusive, ensuring every player feels supported and valued. In the next few weeks, the gym will be filled with the sound of sneakers on the court, teammates encouraging each other, and the determination to succeed. For the girls basketball team it’s more than just the wins and losses, but about coming together as a team and growing stronger together. With this information the team and coaches engage new players and support from students and faculty when this well anticipated season falls upon us.
