On May 9 from 10:30 to 12:00 the annual Team Campbell bake sale will take place at Opa Performance located right here in Bernardsville, during the Strength for Survival event. Students have the opportunity to participate in a few activities that will be taking place that day to draw attention to the event, including relay races, tug of war, med ball throws, and other challenges.
In order to organize these activities, they are in need of about 12 teams of students who will also work together to raise the most money for the foundation. Prizes will be distributed and baked goods will be sold as well. The Team Campbell bake sale will be going on in other rooms of the facility. All proceeds go towards the foundation whose Facebook page says that Campbell “never stopped wanting to help other kids fighting cancer, and always wanted to find a cure.
It is in continuing Cam’s wishes that we have formed the Team Campbell Foundation.” This is a non-profit organization that has a mission “to improve the lives of families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis through awareness campaigns, funding research and psycho-social enrichment opportunities.”
Campbell was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma at the age of three. The foundation was founded in October of 2014, two months after eight year old, Campbell Grace Hoyt, lost her battle to anaplastic ependymoma.
Farrell Tamke says, “The most exciting part of the event is going to be the overall atmosphere, it’s gonna be a lot of fun and it’s all for a good cause. I think everyone is going to really enjoy being there. People can expect to watch their friends compete in physical challenges and while that’s going on, buy some baked goods to enjoy while watching.”
