Dina Rosin
For Dina Rosin, having been elected as Student Council President is yet another impressive accolade to add to the collection. Already the Co-President and Founder of BHS’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America, Class President, and the Vice President of the Junior Friends of Matheny, as well as a member of Harvard Model Congress, National Honors Society, Cross Country, and Track; Rosin now aims to continue her academia through her position on the council. “I hope,” Rosin revealed, “through collaboration with the administration, to be able to look at policies and practices that directly affect students and work to adjust them to help students”. In addition to this, Rosin additionally aims to “increase collaboration and communication between class officers and Student Council… and together complete projects as a whole, rather than a separate entities”. As made clear by her high objectives for next years Student Council, Dina Rosin plans to make a vast amount of positive changes in her 2015-16 position.
Vice President
Freddy Ludtke
This spring it was announced that current sophomore Freddy Ludtke will be continuing his partaking in Student Council. Freddy, who this past year obtained the role of Student Council Treasurer, has been a representative of his peers in even as far back as middle school. “I’ve been involved with Student Council in one form or another since the fifth grade. Freshman year I was then elected class president”, Ludtke revealed. In addition to his work in the Council, Freddy Ludtke is year round soccer player, having taken part in Bernards High School’s Varsity Soccer Team since his freshman year, as well as a club team during his off seasons. As for his goals for next years council, Freddy stated that his “biggest goal is to serve as a link between the student body and the faculty”. Ludtke then concluded by revealing that because “the high school years make up a relatively short period of time in one’s life”, through his work as Vice-President of the Student Council, he wants to “help make them as enjoyable as [he] can for all students at BHS”.
Treasurer
Elee Khademi
Adding to the highly qualified group of officers, it has recently been announced that current Junior Elee Khademi will be assuming the role of Student Council Treasurer for the 2015-16 school year. Khademi, an active member of the school community, has been class treasurer since her Sophomore year as well as well as a Varsity-level Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track athlete. Through her position on the Council, Elee, along with the rest of her co-councilmen, hopes to next year “get more students interested and excited about school events”. In terms of her position as Treasurer, Khademi aims to “keep a good record regarding the group’s finances and to contribute with ideas and the execution of events”. With her lofty goals and longstanding background as Treasurer, Elee Khademi anticipates that next year’s student council will be as impressive as year’s past.
Corresponding Secretary
Sophia Campbell
With her recent election into the 2015-16 Student Council, current Junior Sophia Campbell will be translating her role as Corresponding Secretary from class officers to next year’s Council. In addition to her class officer role which she has held since her freshman year, Campbell is an active member in both National Honors Society as well as Harvard Model Congress. Similar to her newly elected colleagues, Sophia has high goals for next year’s Student Council. “My overall goal for the Council will be to have a very successful and fulfilling senior year, by putting on fun school events for everyone to enjoy”, she stated. Additionally, through her specific job as Corresponding Secretary, Campbell hopes to “facilitate everything” the Council does by “creating posters and generating posts on social media”.
Recording Secretary
Kiera Cullen
Newly elected Student Council member, Kiera Cullen, will assume the position of Recording Secretary alongside her four councilmen next year. Cullen, who has taken part in class officers as Recording Secretary since her Sophomore year, is additionally the current Vice-President of Bernards High School’s Green Team, as well as next year’s captain of the girl’s Cross Country team. For next years Student Council, Cullen hopes to “sustain the progress this year’s Student Council members have made” by continuing to “expand the number of community based projects” as well as by encouraging “students to share their ideas”. As for her job as Recording Secretary, Kiera Cullen plans on “recording all Student Council meetings and agendas” but wants to point out that her position is not just limited to that. “I plan on being part of a team that accomplishes goals that can make the 2015-16 school year the best that it can be”, Cullen concluded. It is with these words that Cullen emphasizes the collaborative goals of Student Council.
