Annie Gillis, a junior midfielder on the Bernards Girls Lacrosse Varsity Team, will certainly be a player to watch this upcoming season. She has been apart of the girls lacrosse program since her freshmen year, when she made the team as a strong addition to an already thriving program. She expresses that “team chemistry and communication is the biggest factor in all sports,” and that the girls lacrosse team definitely has a chance at some big titles this year.
She is looking forward to the game against Ridge, a cross town rivalry, this year because they have always been the team’s biggest competition. They lost in the last three minutes to them last year at Ridge, and she believes “playing them home on the turf this year will be a big factor to the team’s advantage.” She hopes to bring home a win and, with enough communication and team effort, it is very possible.
Annie really expresses that her inspiration is driven by her oldest brother, Joseph, who currently plays for the Syracuse Men’s Lacrosse Team. Her motivation and hard-working personality roots from how hard her brother has worked his whole lacrosse career.
Annie is verbally committed to The University of Florida to continue her lacrosse career after playing at Bernards High School.
