Every year, BHS seniors, accompanied by their family and friends, are able to come together and walk for the annual Bernards High School Senior Fashion Show. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on April 15th, the Project Graduation Fashion Show will give seniors the opportunity to be able to walk down a runway with their friends to help support local retailers, stores, and designers. This entertaining and lively event has students buzzing with excitement as it gives seniors a chance to be able to come together as a class one last time before graduation takes place.
This event started years ago as a way to celebrate the year’s graduating seniors and to be able to raise money for Project Graduation in itself. Throughout the years, the show has slowly grown into a widespread production of seniors, makeup artists, hair stylists, local retailers, lighting specialists, and so much more. Thanks to the parents of the 2023 graduating class, seniors are able to experience this long-anticipated show as the previous graduating classes did.
Starting off the show on the 15th, the first portion of the night consists of casual wear, and the closing portion consists of formal wear. Many local boutiques have helped make this possible as they donate their clothes for seniors to show off on the runway. Some of these stores include Bling By Design, Rebecca Collection, Urban Cottage, Century 21, Diamond Dream, Olympia Sports, Paradise, Pretty Pink Rooster, and many other outside second-hand stores, as well as stores that can be found at the Bridgewater Mall.
As the event gets closer and closer, students have already started to pick out local stores to work with, and of course, the student-run MC and Host. This year’s host is Scarlett Campbell and MC will be Markus Dickson. Scarlett Campbell ‘23 says, “I am very excited to host the fashion show! I decided to host this year because I always had thought it looked like so much fun. Markus and I currently are in preparation of writing our script for the event!”
Another senior, Mariana Dibias, also voices her excitement towards the fashion show: “This year my friends and I are doing Olcott Squared, and I’m really pumped to be able to walk with my group on stage and to also just have a lot of fun with all of the seniors who are participating in general.”
This year’s 2023 Senior Fashion show has offered and given something specifically for everyone. This tradition that remains here at Bernards has helped provide seniors with a very much so bittersweet closure to the year for the seniors that have signed up to participate. The fashion show has given senior models a night they will never forget in previous years and soon will give our class of 2023 the exact same. So to help support our 2023 graduating seniors, coming to the Bernards High School Annual Fashion Show on April 15th will not only give these students a more lively audience, but will also help raise money for Project Graduation.
