Aaron Rodgers’ injury was heard all around the world of the NFL. The man who was supposed to bring the Jets to the Super Bowl goes out in the first two minutes of the game. Many Jets fans are devastated by his injury. Bernards student Lucas Flores had this to say, “I’m in disbelief we paid him 80 million for 4 passes and he tore his [achilles], honestly just seems like the Jets are cursed”. Jets fans are starting to lose faith in their team.
Even though they lost their star quarterback, they still seem like a contending team for the playoffs, maybe even the Super Bowl. The Jets still have offensive threats like wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall to carry the offense while Rodgers is out. Not only that, the Jets have a high-powered defense in the league led by Sauce Gardner. The Jets are currently left to start quarterback Zach Wilson. With Zach Wilson at quarterback, he will have to find his way back into this new system if he wants to succeed. Also, new reports from Bleacher Report say, Aaron Rodgers has a chance of coming back for the playoffs.
Additionally, reports are saying that the offensive line Coach Kieth Carter feels horrible after circumstances led to the season-ending injury. Aaron Rodgers was hurt by Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd who blew by Jets left tackle Duane Brown and sacked Rodgers.
Many fans blame Brown for the injury, which puts a lot of pressure on the offensive line now. Not only that, fans are starting to blame offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett for calling a play that (According to reports) Rodgers was not a fan of. But Coach Carter takes responsibility and puts himself to blame, “It’s certainly not Hackett of course,” Carter said, “That’s an unfortunate injury that just kills me….It’s certainly not Duane’s fault, it’s mine”. Of course, It’s hard to single someone out in this situation to blame.
Ultimately it was just a series of unfortunate events that just led up to this moment. The Jets are going through some significant changes this season that players, coaches, and fans were not expecting. Hopefully, the players will get used to Zach Wilson as they were with Aaron Rodgers. As the Jets continue the season with more pressure on the offense the question still remains, will the Jets be good without Rodgers?
