This holiday season, people will get another chance to test their luck. Dropping on December 15th, the Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse” will be available in a draw for everyone to enter. The shoe retails at $190, which may seem like a hefty price tag for a shoe, but the resale price is even higher, around $400-$550 depending on the size.

The Kobe 6 “Grinch” has been one of the most popular and sought-after basketball shoes for the last few years. The shoe is tough to find and purchase, as it goes for well over $700 in most sizes. According to kixstats.com, the Kobe 6s have been the most popular shoes worn by NBA players for multiple weeks already this season.

The shoe’s looks and performance make it so high in demand. Since NBA legend Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in 2020, his Nike shoe line has slowed down the release of his shoes. As a result, resellers and those who had or were lucky enough to win his shoes could jack the prices up to over $400, with some reaching the thousands mark. Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, has planned to continue his legacy through his sneaker line and many more pairs are expected to drop in 2024. In 2022 and 2023, Nike released two pairs, (one Kobe 6 and one Kobe 4) called “Mambacita”, which honors Kobe’s late daughter Gigi. In 2023, they dropped the Kobe 8 “Halo” honoring Kobe’s birthday.

Even though the shoe hasn’t been released yet, it is already on resale markets. On November 28th, the shoe had a “Shock Drop” on the Nike SNKRS app where limited pairs were dropped randomly for those fortunate enough to catch it. On December 5th, the shoe was released for Early Access. People received Early Access if they had lost at more than six Kobe shoe drops since 2020.

The low-cut shoe is mostly red, with neon green laces, and a black Nike swoosh. The shoe also features Nike Zoom in the heel area. Since it is the most hyped release of the year for performance basketball shoes, many people in the basketball community will try to get their hands on them. Around 40,000 pairs were rumored to be available during the shock drop and 200,000+ pairs will likely be released during the normal release. Many people will be loading up their computers and phones on December 15th at 10 am hoping to be selected in the drawing.
